2025-2026 Committee Lists

    • Executive
      The Executive Committee of the Council shall consist of the officers of the Council, the immediate past President, five elected members of the Council, and one additional member to be appointed by the President.
    • Administration of Justice / Resolutions / Historian
      Administration of Justice The Administration of Justice Committee has been given the following responsibilities: (1) to make recommendations to the Executive Committee in response to requests to the Council to take formal positions on issues affecting the administration of justice of a member state’s judicial system, and (2) to make recommendations to the Executive Committee whether the Council should public.
    • Annual Conference Committee
      The current Education Committee is renamed the Annual Conference Committee and shall continue the duties of planning the education program for the annual conference.
    • Communications
      The Communications Committee oversees all communications-related activities of the Council. Both the website and newsletter committees are sub-committees of the Communications Committee, and each have a respective chair.
    • Development
      The purpose of the Development Committee is to spearhead funding-raising efforts on behalf of the Council.
    • Education
      The Education Committee is responsible for surveying the educational needs and desires of members and developing an Education Plan for consideration by the Annual Conference Committee, which designs the education curriculum for the annual conference.  It explores educational opportunities through collaboration with other organizations and creates year-round education programs for members to bridge the gap between annual conferences.
    • Finance
      The Committee’s objectives are to review financial policies of the organization and propose modifications to both solidify the organization’s short-term financial health and promote long-term financial stability.
    • Membership
      The objectives of the Membership Committee are to: (1)To attract new chiefs to our organization, including those who have recently become chief judges and those who have never been involved with the Council and (2) to maintain the interest of chiefs who attend our conference so that they will become active members of the Council.
    • Newsletter
      The purpose of the Council of Chief Judges of the State Courts of Appeal Newsletter is to inspire, educate and encourage excellence among Chief Judges. In 2008, The Chief Brief was created and is disseminated to the membership at least three times per year.
    • Nominating
      The purpose of the Nominating Committee is to fill offices and positions on the Council of Chief Judges Executive Committee. A strength of the Council of Chief Judges of State Courts of Appeal (CCJSCA) is the broad spectrum of member court experiences and practices, which is shared among members as they examine ways to deal with common problems and learn about effective programs instituted in other intermediate appellate courts.
    • Scholarship
      Award Available Scholarship Funds to timely applicants for financial assistance to attend the CCJSCA Annual Conference from funds allocated for that purpose by the Executive Committee criteria for award to be included in Scholarship Application form and instructions for Scholarship Funds sent with Registration Materials for Annual Conference
    • Strategic Planning & Evaluation Committee
      The purpose of the Strategic Planning & Evaluation Committee, a Standing Committee of the Council of Chief Judges, is to continually assess the Council’s effectiveness and progress in implementing recommendations, identifying areas of improvement, and making recommendations regarding the future direction of the Council.
    • Website
      The website committee is responsible for updating CCJSCA’s website.
