Everett O. Inbody served on the Nebraska Court of Appeals for 22 years from 1995 to 2017. Rett was appointed by the Nebraska Governor as a County Court Judge (5th District) in 1986 and then appointed to the District Court (5th District) in 1991, where he served until his appointment to the Court of Appeals 1995. He served as the Chief Judge from 2004 to 2014.
He served on the following Committees of the Council of Chief Judges of the State Court of Appeals (CCJSCA): Administration of Justice, (Chair: 2017-2021); Annual Conference; Executive; Finance,; Historian/Resolutions, (Chair: 2013-2021); and Retirement, (Chair: 2018-2020) Committees. He has also served as the Coordinator of the Council’s Great Educational Moments (GEMS) program. Since retiring from the bench in 2017, he continues to serve in various capacities for the CCJSCA including as Chairman of the Retirement Committee, the Administration of Justice/Resolutions/ Historian Committee, coordinating the GEMS program and attending annual conferences.
He graduated from the University of Nebraska earning both his undergraduate degree and law degree. He entered private law practice in 1970 in Wahoo, Nebraska with the firm of Haessler and Sullivan . In 2002, he was appointed by the Nebraska Supreme Court as Co-chair of the Court’s Commission on Children in the Courts. Rett was named by the Nebraska Supreme Court as the 2010 Outstanding Judge for Service to the Judiciary.
