Thomas Leighton of St. Paul, Minnesota graduated in 1982 from the University of St. Thomas with a Bachelor degree and obtained his J.D. degree from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1985. He sits on a number of law-related non-profit organization boards including the American Inns of Court Foundation Board of Trustees, New York University Law School’s Institute of Judicial Administration Board of Advisors, United States Supreme Court Historical Society, Minnesota Supreme Court Historical Society, Resource Board for the National Association of Women Judges, and Books for Africa Jack Mason Law & Democracy Initiative Advisory Board.
Tom is currently Vice President for Content Acquisition and Judicial Relations with Thomson Reuters. Tom’s time with Thomson Reuters has focused on building relationships with the judiciary. Tom, who has been with West Publishing/Thomson Reuters for 33 years, leads content acquisition and judicial relations for the company’s legal and tax businesses in the U.S., Canada and United Kingdom. He has said: “Working with the judiciary for 30 plus years means I’ve been the beneficiary of the incredible work that everyone did before me, and continues to do at Thomson Reuters.”
On November 17, 2022, Tom Leighton was one of five nationally recognized leaders that were inducted into the National Center for State Courts’(NCSC) Warren Burger Society. Named for the NCSC visionary and former Chief Justice of the United States, the Burger Society honors individuals who have used their time, talent and support to advance the organization in exceptional ways.
Tom has been a great supporter of the CCJSCA for over 20 years, and he and Thomson Reuters have provided substantial financial support as well as informative presentations to our annual educational conference. All of this support is greatly appreciated.
